Today’s image is an intricate depiction of the nativity, taken from a beautifully illustrated Book of Hours (Sarum) Hore beatissime Virginis Marie ad legitimum Sarisburiensis Ecclesie ritum (Paris, 1534), and part of the Bolton collection.
It is printed chiefly in Latin, with rubrics and short texts in English. This touching piece accompanies its nativity scene:
