Context
Name of Creator: O’Meara, Gerard (b. 1944).
Biographical History: Photographer Gerard O’Meara was born in Cork City in 1944 and lives in Mallow. He took up photography at the age of 14 and received his first professional commission just four years later. Over his long and varied career, theatre and fashion photography have remained closest to his heart.
Immediate Source of Acquisition: Donated by Gerard O’Meara to the National Dance Archive of Ireland on 23 July 2011.
Content and Structure
Scope and Content: Black and white and colour photographs taken by Gerard O’Meara of the Irish National Ballet Company’s tour in County Cork in 1974 and 1975 and of Joan Denise Moriarty’s ballet classes in Mallow in 1975 and 1988.
