A history of sustainability at UL
UL’s Green Campus boasts a rooftop garden, which was developed by volunteers in 2012 as part of the refurbishment of a leaking roof. The UL Sustainability Framework was launched in 2022, and was created to shape UL’s holistic response to sustainable development to 2030 and beyond.
But did you know that there is a long history of sustainability and biodiversity on the campus? Today’s images feature a farm account book from Plassey House, which records the sale of tomatoes from its extensive greenhouses in 1943, as well as an illustration of a tomato plant from Opera Omnia Botanica, (1720).
