Sustainable holidays
Here at the Special Collections and Archives Department at UL, we hold approximately 20,000 postcards from the turn of the 20th century, from every county in Ireland. These postcards are an invaluable resource, giving us an insight into where past generations spent their holidays, and how far (or near!) they travelled. Needless to say, individuals had a much smaller carbon footprint at this time!
The postcards also capture images of the unspoilt natural landscape at the turn of the 20th century, reminding us of the beauty all around us in Ireland.
