Today features two coloured images in Anna Matilda Watson’s scrapbook from the Allott papers. The scrapbook is digitised and available on the digital library.
The images depict the story from The Fortunes of Nigel by Sir Walter Scott. First published in 1822, it tells the story of a young Scottish nobleman Nigel Olifaunt, who journeys to London to petition King James I for repayment of a substantial loan made by his late father, aiming to redeem his family’s mortgaged estate.
