This project is based on a set of letters written in 1897 between a tenant of Lord Lismore’s (1815-1898) estate in Banteer, County Cork, his land agent William Robert Hood Rochfort (1847-1940), and Rochfort’s rent-warner Patt Sullivan. The items are part of the Timothy Looney Collection P43/236, which contains several documents concerning Lord Lismore’s estates such as account books, records of disputes, and ledgers.
