Responding to climate change: disaster management
While archives undertake several long-term measures to ensure the sustainability of their collections, it is also important that they have planned for unforeseen emergencies, whether fire, flood or other extreme weather event. UL Library has a dedicated Disaster Response Team, who are trained for a variety of different scenarios. The library also holds a contract with Harwell, a UK-based company who are on call 24/7 and ready to come onsite in case of a more serious emergency to help salvage damaged collections.
Today’s image shows some items from our Disaster Response Kit, including masks, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), gloves… and the UL Library Christmas elf, who we have been assured is available all year round to give a helping hand.
